Trucking Veteran Makes Hiner His First Acquisition

Trucking industry veteran Paul James has purchased Hiner Transport of Huntington, Ind., from company founders Homer and Marge Hiner for an undisclosed amount.

James, a former operations executive with J.B. Hunt Transport Services and former president of Burlington Motor Carriers, formed a holding company called Service First Corp. to make what is expected to be the first of several acquisitions.

Hiner is a profitable dry van truckload fleet with 130 tractors and 330 trailers. It generated annual revenue of $16 million in 1998.
