LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Startup firm TruckX announced plans to introduce a driver mobile app and electronic logging device.
The TruckX app for Android and Apple devices will provide load scheduling and dispatching, GPS tracking and geofencing, hours-of-service alerts, fuel-tax reporting, vehicle health reports and driver invoicing, the company said.
A companion ELD device will launch in two to three months.
The upcoming federal ELD mandate will require most drivers to switch from paper logbooks to a compliant ELD by Dec. 18.
TruckX said its scheduling and routing app will be available for free download.
The ELD device and basic functionality initially will be available at a discounted monthly fee of $16 per truck. An upgraded version with additional features such as hours-of-service alerts for dispatchers, fuel-tax calculations, GPS tracking and vehicle diagnostics will be available for $24 per month per truck.
TruckX’s goal is to “bring efficiencies to the trucking industry at a very affordable cost,” said Tapan Chaudhari, the company’s founder and president.
