The federal government’s Transportation Workers Identification Credential enrollment began Wednesday at three U.S. ports: Chattanooga, Tenn.; LaPorte, Texas; and Portsmouth, N.H.
Next week, TWIC enrollments will begin at Galveston, Texas; Juneau, Alaska; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Freeport, Texas.
The TWIC is a bio-metric identification credential that will be required for unescorted access to secure areas in all U.S. ports. By Sept. 25, all drivers who do business in the ports will be required to have a TWIC.
The TWIC Program can bring a mobile enrollment center to companies, and American Trucking Associations said has posted the mobile enrollment center guidelines on its TWIC page.
