Two Trucking Associations Help Take Hay to Colorado Farmers

The Colorado Motor Carriers Association and the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association helped organize trucking companies to haul donated hay from Wisconsin to drought-stricken farmers and ranchers in southwest Colorado.

“This area has been hit with everything lately: tremendous fires, an awful drought,” Gregory D. Fulton, president of the Colorado Motor Carriers Association, said in an interview. “It’s a very tough situation.”

Matt Janowiak, a geologist with the Bureau of Land Management in Colorado, said he had called on the trucking associations to help move hay to feed livestock, since the drought had dried up pastures where the animals normally graze.
