Union Pacific Corp., the largest U.S. freight railroad by revenue, said Thursday its fourth-quarter net income rose to $491 million, or $1.86 per share, from $485 million, or $1.78, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 5.9% to $4.2 billion, the company said in a statement.
For the full year, UP reported net income of $1.86 billion, or $6.91 per diluted share, up from $1.6 billion, or $5.91, for 2006.
Railroad commodity revenue reached a record $15.5 billion in 2007, up 4% from 2006, UP said.
UP operates west of the Mississippi River.
