| Senior CorrespondentUnions Announce Grassroots Election Campaign
Transportation unions plan to back candidates in 34 congressional districts as part of the AFL-CIO’s efforts to elect a more pro-labor Congress and White House.
The AFL-CIO’s Transportation Trades Department announced its grassroots lobbying plans during the organization’s third regular convention held July 21-22 in Washington, D.C.
TTD will keep its activist network intact after the fall elections, using it to lobby lawmakers on key transportation legislation, added Ed Wytkind, the organization’s executive director.

The effort will “put a human face on the interests of transportation workers as e-commerce and new technologies are dehumanizing our economy,” said Ed Dubroski, chair of TTD’s Legislative Activist Committee and president of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
