Universal Truckload’s 2Q Profit Declines

Universal Truckload Services’ second-quarter income declined from a year ago despite higher truckload revenue.

Net income dropped to $3.9 million, or 25 cents a share, from $4.6 million, or 29 cents, a year ago.

Revenue for the quarter ended July 2 rose 16.6% to $180 million, the company said late Thursday.

Truckload revenue climbed 14.2% to $110.8 million.

Universal Truckload is ranked No. 40 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
