UPS Names Freight Forwarding Management

UPS Inc. Tuesday named a new senior management team to oversee its freight forwarding, global brokerage and non-asset network management service businesses.

The company named Eric Kirchner president of its freight forwarding unit, which comes as UPS said it was leveraging the integration of its airline operations with its global air freight forwarding services.

Kirchner, a 27-year veteran of the transportation industry, joined UPS Supply Chain Solutions in 2004 when UPS acquired Menlo Worldwide Forwarding, where he was chief operating officer.

The management team includes Everette Riley, president of North American Freight Forwarding and Transportation, and Terry Gavin Sambrook, who becomes the company’s vice president of global brokerage.

Earlier this year, UPS launched a simplified global portfolio for shipping air freight, including a substantially expanded express freight option with guaranteed door-to-door service.

UPS is ranked No. 1 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
