UPS Sets New ‘Intercept’ Service to Reroute Shipments

UPS Inc. on Monday announced a new service that would allow customers to re-route shipments already en route to their destination.

UPS Delivery Intercept is a Web-enabled service in which shippers can click on a shipment's tracking number and request a reroute, the company said.

Requests also can be made through a shipper’s account with the company or via its signature tracking service, the company said.

The service costs $10 per interception and because of its reliability of the new system, is charged only on completion of the change, the company said.

“With UPS Delivery Intercept, shippers receive an unprecedented level of control over their packages, enabling them to avoid mistakes that could cost money or impact customer service,” said Kurt Kuehn, UPS’ senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing.

UPS is ranked No. 1 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
