LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A top official at Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. said he expects sales to reach 40,000 units this year, exceeding the company’s record of 38,628 units sold last year.
Craig Bennett, senior vice president of sales and marketing, said he expects industrywide trailer sales to reach as high as 250,000 units this year — enough for nearly all trailer makers to “do well,” but short of the record 270,000 units sold in 2006.
Utility has been the nation’s largest producer of refrigerated trailers since 1994 and currently has a 54% market share, Bennett said.
At its booth at the Mid-America Trucking Show here, Utility also marked the 100th anniversary of its founding with a special display of historical photographs, memorabilia and a 25-minute documentary film showing inside a trailer.
