Velociti Introduces VelociCare, a Maintenance Program for Onboard Technology
The subscription-based VelociCare program includes proactive monitoring of system health, hardware repair and replacement and system upgrades.
Deryk Powell, president of Velociti, said the mass adoption onboard technologies, driven in part by the upcoming electronic logging device mandate, is creating a “tsunami” of demand, not only for deployment, but for maintenance of those systems.
“There simply hasn’t been to this point a program designed to keep these technologies up and running,” he said during a press conference here at American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition.
VelociCare covers a variety of onboard systems, including telematics platforms, ELDs, onboard video, trailer tracking, reefer monitoring, tire pressure inflation and monitoring systems, trailer skirts, auxiliary power units, collision avoidance and lane departure systems.
Powell said roughly 10% to 20% of a fleet’s onboard systems will need service each year, either for repair or install.
Average fleet pricing will be $3 to $6 per unit per month for all VelociCare services, he said.
Powell said the ELD mandate, set to go into effect in December 2017, will pose a serious implementation challenge for new adopters of the technology.
“Those who aren’t there yet don’t know what’s about to hit them,” he said. “Frankly, they aren’t prepared for it.”
