Vitran Corp. said Wednesday its second-quarter profit fell 16% to $4.6 million, or 34 cents a share, from $5.5 million, or 41 cents, a year earlier.
The Toronto-based trucking and transportation firm said the quarter’s revenue rose 15% to a record $196 million.
Vitran has truckload, less-than-truckload and logistics operations in the United States and Canada.
LTL segment operating income fell to $8.5 million, from $9 million a year ago.
Logistics operating income rose to $831,000, from $735,000, while truckload operating income slipped to $321,000, from $405,000.
Vitran is ranked No. 41 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
