Volvo Trucks North America said late Monday that the company and the United Auto Workers reached tentative agreement on a three-year contract for the truck maker’s plant in Virginia that would end a six-week strike there by the UAW.

The agreement would cover the approximately 2,600 UAW members at Volvo’s New River Valley plant in Dublin, Va., which makes heavy-duty trucks.

Workers have been on strike since contract negotiations broke down on Feb. 1.

While Volvo has declined to say how many trucks the Dublin plant made, a union official has said the facility produced about 140 trucks a day in two shifts prior to the strike, including some models by Mack Trucks, Volvo’s sister company.

The company said it was withholding additional details about the agreement pending ratification by UAW Local 2069, which is scheduling ratification meetings.
