Volvo AB’s North American truck sales rose 57% in August from a year ago to 3,096 units, the company said Thursday.
Heavy-duty units were led by Volvo Trucks, which jumped 74% to 2,105 units, while Mack Trucks’ sales rose 21% to 891, the company said.
Volvo AB is the parent company of Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks, and the Eicher, UD Trucks and Renault Trucks brands.
In North America, UD Trucks sold 95 units and Renault five units. UD’s total worldwide sales were a mix of mostly medium- and heavy-duty units, and some light-duty trucks. Eicher’s sales are primarily in Asia and the Middle East.
Worldwide, truck deliveries for all brands rose 35% to 15,557 units, Sweden-based Volvo said in a statement. Almost 12,000 of those were heavy-duty trucks, which rose 43%.
