Volvo AB’s worldwide July deliveries more than doubled and its North American deliveries almost tripled from a year ago, the company said Wednesday.

Worldwide deliveries rose 116% to 6,187 trucks, most of which were heavy-duty, Sweden-based Volvo AB said in a statement.

North American deliveries rose 189% to 1,094 units, from 378 last year. Volvo AB is the parent company of Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks. Year-to-date North American deliveries are 39% higher than a year ago.

VTNA said last week it would boost production at a Virginia plant, while Mack said this week it would do the same at a Pennsylvania factory.

South American sales rose to 149% to 1,489 units and European deliveries jumped 80% to 2,223 units, with both Eastern and Western European sales rising by more than 70%.
