Volvo Trucks North America announced onboard technology from Lytx, a provider of machine vision and artificial intelligence-powered video telematics, is available on all model-year 2022 or newer Volvo trucks as a factory-installed option.
The Lytx DriveCam event recorder, mounted on the windshield, helps monitor and evaluate driver performance by identifying behaviors such as failure to wear a seat belt, following distance and lane departure.
It also can assist in defending professional drivers when accidents occur due to other road users, according to Greensboro, N.C.-based VTNA, a unit of Volvo Group.
The system has, among other features, live-stream functionality, always-on cellular cloud connectivity and optional continual recording. — Transport Topics
