Trailer maker Wabash National Corp. raised its guidance for trailer shipments and projected record sales for full-year 2014.
The Lafayette, Indiana-based manufacturer said new trailer shipments exceeded 57,300 units in 2014, surpassing its previous outlook of 54,500 to 56,000 trailers, because customer pickups were stronger than expected in all business areas.
As a result, Wabash estimated that full-year sales would rise about 14% to a record $1.86 billion.
It also projected full year earnings in the range of 83 to 85 cents per share, an increase of about 24% to 27% from the previous year.
“We are very pleased with the exceptional performance in the fourth quarter as trailer and equipment shipments exceeded our expectations as favorable weather conditions, compared to the prior-year period, provided support to these efforts,” CEO Dick Giromini said in the Jan. 14 announcement. “With an exceptionally strong backlog and continued operating improvements, we were able to deliver our third consecutive record-setting quarter and another all-time record year.”
Wabash is scheduled to report final fourth-quarter and full-year 2014 results Feb. 3.
