Trailer maker Wabash National Corp. said it plans to invest more than $2 million to expand production operations for its composites business to a facility in Frankfort, Indiana.
The expansion will utilize a plant previously occupied by Sun Chemical and located about 25 miles southeast of Wabash’s headquarters in Lafayette, Indiana.
The company said it expects to create more than 100 jobs during the next five years.
Wabash said it will begin the hiring process in October and plans to begin initial operations in December.
The 100,000 square-foot facility in Frankfort will house manufacturing operations for a variety of Wabash Composites products, including semi-trailer aerodynamic products, mobile storage containers, mobile offices and other cargo units.
“In support of the continued success of our strategic growth and diversification efforts, we are extremely pleased to expand our Wabash Composites operations to Frankfort,” CEO Dick Giromini said in the Sept. 5 announcement.
