Wabash Swings to Second-Quarter Profit

Trailer manufacturer Wabash National Corp. reported a second-quarter profit compared with a loss a year ago, as trailer sales improved.

Wabash earned $3.3 million, 5 cents a share, compared with a loss of $5.6 million, or 72 cents, a year ago.

Net sales almost doubled to $287 million, from $150 million. Operating income was $5.1 million, compared with an operating loss of $5.7 million a year ago.

Total new trailers shipped more than doubled, to 11,400 from 5,400 a year ago, Lafayette, Ind.-based Wabash said in a statement.
