LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Wabco Holdings displayed its hydraulic anti-lock braking system with its ESCsmart integrated electronic stability control here at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
The company said at a media briefing here Wednesday that the program can improve the vehicle’s directional stability and help protect against rollovers and spin-outs.
“Wabco is the first supplier to bring the technological advancement of hydraulic anti-lock braking systems integrated with electronic stability control to the commercial vehicle market,” said Nikhil Varty, Wabco’s president of the Americas.
ESC regulations could take effect as early as 2016.
“Having successfully adapted these systems to meet the specific requirements of the North American market, ahead of the [federal government’s] anticipated ESC legislation coming into effect in 2016, Wabco can now offer original equipment manufacturers the broadest range of options in safety technology,” Varty said.
Wabco said ESCsmart offers a continuous “self-learning” capability for fleet operators as the system monitors vehicle characteristics and automatically self-adjusts for optimal performance.
