Retail giant Walmart plans to hire thousands of “supply chain associates” nationwide ranging from warehouse workers to truck drivers during a job fair Nov. 3-4.

Capital region hiring events will take place in Johnstown and Sharon Springs, N.Y.

This comes after the retailer in September said it needed 20,000 more permanent supply chain employees nationwide.

“Whether customers are shopping in stores or online, they are relying on Walmart Supply Chain now more than ever for the necessary items they need every day,” said Karisa Sprague, senior vice president of people in supply chain.

As well as drivers, Walmart is looking for forklift and power equipment operators, order-fillers, shipping loaders and diesel technicians.

Average wages for full-time hourly associates are $20.37-an-hour based on position, shift and schedule. All positions are considered full time and qualify for benefits, including medical, vision and dental insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, a quarterly incentive program and a college assistance program. The company added that its medical coverage plans starts at $30.50 per pay period — approximately one-third less than the average premium employees pay at other companies.

Walmart also is offering maternity and paternity benefits, emotional well-being benefits, health care tailored to the LBGTQ+ community as well as veteran and military spouse support.

Walmart ranks No. 3 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest private carriers in North America.
