Truckers who will be on the road on election day Nov. 7 may still vote through the help of a Web site developed by the owner of a popular New Jersey truck stop.
“We have a philosophy: Our customers may be truck drivers, but they don’t have to be treated that way,” Kircshner told Transport Topics. “We fight as much as we can to help the image of the over-the-road driver, because we think over-the-road drivers get a real bum steer.”
The site also has deadline information about absentee ballots. The state sites it links to vary, the pertinent absentee voting information requires many clicks on some sites, but only a few on others.
Fred Kircschner, owner of the Bordentown Junction Truckstop, said he created the voting information section of www.petro-nj.com to give drivers in every state the opportunity to obtain an absentee ballot. His business is located on the New Jersey Turnpike, halfway between New York and Philadelphia.
Requests for absentee ballots may be obtained through the site, as well as phone numbers for clerks of court offices in every state, he said.
