West Coast Ports, Longshore Union Reach Tentative Agreement

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union and the Pacific Maritime Association have reached a tentative agreement on a new six-year labor contract that will cover more than 25,000 workers at 29 West Coast ports, the groups said Tuesday in a joint statement.

The new contract must now be ratified by ILWU and PMA members before it replaces the current agreement, which expired July 1 but was extended to allow port operations to continue during negotiations and voting, the groups said.

The terms of the new contract have not yet been disclosed.

ILWU represents dock and warehouse workers. PMA represents cargo carriers, unloading companies, and terminal operators.
