West Side Transport Offers New Pay Package
The Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based dry van carrier, which operates about 500 Class 8 trucks and 2,000 vans, said the pay scale would begin in January.
The increase was the latest in the ongoing pay increases, but it was one of the few that offered the weekly minimum.
Chief Operating Officer Ron Joseph said in a statement that he hoped drivers would commit to the carrier “with the confidence that they can earn a consistent paycheck each week with the opportunity to make [even] more than the weekly pay commitment.”
Mandy McCrary, the carrier’s director of operations, pointed out that a number of factors limit a driver’s pay, including traffic, weather, miles and unpredictable freight.
“Our weekly minimum-pay commitment will allow drivers to plan and save money, knowing their families’ earnings won’t suffer due to circumstances beyond their ability to control,” she said.
