Wholesale Inventories Fall for Tenth Month

Wholesale inventories fell in June for the tenth consecutive month, the Commerce Department said Tuesday.

The 1.8% decline followed a revised 1.2% downturn in May, Commerce said. Wholesale sales rose 0.4%, the second consecutive gain.

Economists had forecast inventories to fall 0.9%, Bloomberg reported.

Wholesale inventories account for about a fourth of total business stockpiles, while retailers and factories account for the rest.
