Wholesale Inventories Rise in August

Wholesale inventories rose 0.1% in August, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

Wholesale sales gained 0.4%, the department said.

Economists had forecast inventories would rise 0.3%, Bloomberg reported.

The inventory-to-sales ratio held at 1.11 for a fourth month.

Wholesale inventories account for about a fourth of total business stockpiles. Retailers and factories account for the rest.
