Wren Calls for Regulatory Changes

In a meeting with trucking’s chief regulator last week, American Trucking Associations Chairman John Wren pressed the Federal Highway Administration to move quickly on updating hours-of-service rules for truck drivers.

Wren also asked Julie Cirillo, program manager of the agency’s Motor Carrier and Highway Safety business unit, to strengthen the certified driver license program and to improve the way vehicle safety regulations are developed.

According to meeting participants, Cirillo said she will be increasing her agency’s focus on compliance and enforcement activities. She also said it will continue offering educational and outreach programs with help from the industry.
