Xata Reports Profit in Fiscal 4Q, Loss in Year

Transportation software firm Xata Corp. said it earned $60,000, or zero cents per share, in its fiscal fourth quarter, compared with a loss of $1.6 million, or 19 cents, a year ago.

Revenue increased 5.3% in the fiscal quarter ended Sept. 30 to $17.1 million, with a 29% increase in software revenue, the company said.

Gross margins grew slightly to 52%, compared with 43% in the previous year.

Xata said it acquired 40 new customers in the quarter.



For the fiscal year 2010, Xata lost $3.2 million, or 34 cents per share, compared with a loss of $2.8 million, or 33 cents, the previous year.

Revenue grew 8.2% in the year, with a 30% rise in software revenue.
