XPO Logistics XPO Logistics Inc. has landed food service deals with two companies in the United Kingdom, most recently with retailer Iceland, XPO said March 15.
Greenwich, Connecticut-based XPO, No. 14 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada and No. 12 on the TT list of the Top 50 logistics companies in North America, said it has a five-year contract to run warehousing and distribution for Iceland in the United Kingdom.
The retailer will use XPO to help open 40 more stores in addition to the 850 it has. XPO also will operate four Iceland distribution centers, three in England and one in Scotland.
Earlier this month, XPO came to an agreement with German supermarket chain Aldi. The contract calls for XPO to handle some of Aldi’s reverse logistics in the U.K., mainly the washing and repair of reusable transit packaging.
XPO said March 4 the work would be done in five English and Scottish cities and that the containers involved are beverage trays, universal display pallets and containers for shipping meat and fresh produce.
In the United States, XPO last week announced a contract with health-care provider Trinity Health.
