Joby Aviation and other ambitious companies collectively have raised billions of dollars to turn air taxis into reality.

Toyota is boosting its investment in air taxi manufacturer Joby Aviation by $500 million to support plans for commercial production, bringing its total investment to $894 million.

Joby Aviation said it received regulatory clearance to use software products that the electric aviation startup has developed in-house since acquiring Uber’s air taxi division in 2021.

Joby Aviation Inc. expects to launch its flying taxi service in Dubai before anywhere else, including the startup’s home turf in the U.S.
