Whitewood Transport, a Billings, Mont., based trucking company, will haul the 2017 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree from the Kootenai National Forest in the northwest corner of the state to Washington, D.C., next month

On the morning of Nov. 28, Gary Amoth backed his 105-foot-long red truck next to the sidewalk of the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol and dropped off a very special delivery: a monster-size Christmas tree from Idaho’s Payette National Forest.

The Capitol Christmas Tree is being tracked in real time as it makes its way from Chugach National Forest in Alaska to Washington, D.C.
