KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Truck drivetrain manufacturer Eaton Corp. said its electric-diesel hybrid system for medium-duty trucks is now in commercial production and that it would produce heavy-duty hybrids in a few years.

The most common way of delivering data from truck telematics involves the system vendor storing, and probably massaging, the information, which the customer accesses through a secure Web site.

U.S. retail Class 8 truck sales continued to slide in July, falling more than 54% from the same month last year, according to the latest survey by Ward’s Communications.
