Forward Air Corp. said its third-quarter net income slipped from a year ago, while revenue improved.

Forward Air Corp. said its third-quarter earnings will be lower than the company originally estimated, as tonnage volumes became “inconsistent” in August following a strong start to the period.

Forward Air Corp.’s second-quarter net income rose to $14.2 million, or 48 cents a share, from $12 million, or 40 cents, a year ago.

Forward Air Corp.’s first-quarter net income rose to $7.9 million, or 27 cents a share, from $3.4 million, or 12 cents, a year ago.

Forward Air Corp. said late Monday its fourth-quarter net income almost doubled, to $11.8 million, or 41 cents per share, from $6.3 million, or 22 cents, a year earlier.

Forward Air Corp. said late Wednesday its third-quarter net income rose to $8.9 million, or 31 cents per share, from $3.8 million, or 13 cents, a year ago.

Forward Air Corp. said late Thursday its second-quarter net income rose to $7.9 million, or 27 cents per share, from $2.8 million, or 10 cents, a year ago.

Forward Air Corp. reported a first-quarter profit of $3.4 million, or 12 cents per share, compared with a loss of $3.1 million, or 11 cents, a year ago.
