The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency plans to tailor its new glider truck emissions standard to help protect the glider industry from “going out of business or substantially reducing its economic growth potential,” agency chief Andrew Wheeler said in a document sent to Congress.

Tennessee Tech University officials have ended plans to establish an Intelligent Mobility Research Center in a partnership with Fitzgerald Glider Kits after a university research misconduct investigation discredited a university study that concluded in some cases glider trucks polluted less than newer heavy trucks.

A misconduct investigation completed by Tennessee Technological University concluded that university researchers erred when stating in an industry-funded glider kit study that emissions from the trucks are as clean or cleaner than those from newer trucks.
