Ryder System said Thursday its third-quarter profit rose 62% on stronger demand for commercial truck rentals and used vehicles.

Ryder System has named Robert Sanchez head of its global vehicle leasing business.

Ryder System said Friday its second-quarter profit increased to $29.8 million, or 56 cents a share, from $22.9 million, or 41 cents, a year ago.

Ryder System said it has been issued a United States patent for its supply chain management system and technology.
