Dockworkers might be rethinking their position on a tentative deal after calling off a renewed strike this weekend at Canada’s west coast ports, according to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

UPS Inc. and its union will resume labor talks July 25 after negotiations had stalled earlier this month as the company seeks to head off a strike that could occur as early as Aug. 1.

Negotiations on a new labor deal between UPS Inc. and the Teamsters stalled July 5 after showing promise over the weekend, renewing concern that workers could strike at the end of the month.

The Teamsters union gave UPS Inc. a June 30 ultimatum in labor talks after walking away from discussions June 28, warning a nationwide strike “appears inevitable.”

XPO workers on June 21 voted to remove a local Teamsters union from their Hialeah, Fla., workplace. Teamsters Local 769 was first certified in December 2014.
