YRC Worldwide Friday reported a first-quarter loss of $102 million, or $2.14 per share, compared with a loss of $274 million, or $13.15 per share, a year ago.

YRC Worldwide said it has reached a definitive agreement with creditors, labor groups and pension funds that would give the company $100 million in new capital as its restructuring moves forward.

YRC Worldwide’s Holland unit said Monday it plans to hire about 1,000 drivers this year.

YRC Worldwide said Monday that William Trubeck will replace Chief Financial Officer Sheila Taylor, who is leaving the company at the end of the month.

YRC Worldwide said Monday it signed an agreement in principle with its lenders and the Teamsters union on a proposed restructuring plan that would provide a cash infusion from its creditors who will receive newly issued common stock and notes.

YRC Worldwide Friday reported fourth-quarter net income of $23.1 million, or 49 cents per share, though it lost $322 million, or $8.13 per share, for the full year.

YRC Worldwide and the Teamsters union said they have agreed to provide more time for the company to recapitalize its balance sheet.

YRC Worldwide has filed a motion asking a court to dismiss a suit by rival less-than-truckload carrier ABF Freight System, and said separately it will close 31 terminals around the country to reorganize its network and trim costs.

YRC Worldwide said Friday its third-quarter loss narrowed from a year ago, as tonnage improved sequentially from the second quarter.

The Teamsters union’s rank-and-file membership at YRC Worldwide ratified a new labor agreement to run through 2015 it said is aimed at saving 25,000 jobs at the less-than-truckload carrier.
