Logistics companies face significant new challenges as both shippers and carriers look for ways to cope with financial turmoil, volatile fuel costs and slumping demand for goods and services.

Logistics firm US1 Industries’ third-quarter profit rose to $972,000, or 7 cents a share, from $789,000, or 6 cents, a year ago.

Canadian firm Contrans Income Fund’s third-quarter was C$11.4 million, or 40 cents per unit, up from C$9.1 million, or 32 cents, a year ago.

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada has agreed to transfer ownership of five Las Vegas public compressed natural gas fueling stations to Clean Energy Fuels Corp., Clean Energy said Friday.
