The trucking industry lost nearly 25,000 jobs in January, the highest monthly total ever except during a national strike in 1994, according to data from the Department of Labor.

Canadian National Railway and Norfolk Southern Corp. plan to create a “MidAmerica Corridor,” an agreement in which the railroads will share track and carry each other’s shipments in various routes in the Midwest, the railroads announced Tuesday.
