WASHINGTON — There are signs the U.S. economy is stalling and could undermine a tenuous recovery for freight haulers, according to the author of a report on logistics costs by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals.

An investor announced plans this week to take control of Express-1 Expedited Solutions, in order to expand the brokerage and forwarding business.

Descartes Systems Group, a supplier of logistics technology, has acquired Telargo Inc. for about C$9.6 million in cash.

Dutch freight forwarder Geodis Wilson has acquired U.S. logistics provider One Source Logistics to expand its U.S. presence.

The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel the week of June 6 was 18% higher than it was at the beginning of this year, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, and the June 6 price of that fuel in California was 20% higher.
