Diesel Rises 7.8¢ to $2.352 a Gallon

Diesel fuel’s national average price rose 7.8 cents from a week ago to $2.352 a gallon, its highest level this year, the Department of Energy said.

Gasoline Rises 19¢ to $2.49 a Gallon

The national average price of regular gasoline jumped 19 cents in the past two weeks to $2.49 a gallon, rising with the highest oil prices in six months, according to the latest Lundberg Survey of filling stations released Sunday.

Diesel Inches Up to $2.231

The national diesel fuel average rose 1.5 cents a gallon last week, while gasoline posted a much larger 6.9-cent jump, widening the gap between the two fuels as gas stockpiles declined ahead of the traditional Memorial Day start of summer driving season.

The Obama administration last week announced stricter requirements for automobile fuel efficiency and a first-ever national greenhouse gas reduction standard for cars and light trucks. Though heavy trucks are not immediately affected, an industry official suggested similar changes could be coming within the next decade.

Logistics firm US 1 Industries said it had a first quarter net loss of $979,000, or 7 cents a share, compared with a profit of $690,000, or 5 cents a share, a year earlier.
