Third-party logistics specialist Total Distribution Inc. bought D+S Distribution and Integrated Logistics Services for an undisclosed sum, the Peoples Services Inc. subsidiary said.
PSI ranks No. 7 on the Transport Topics list of the largest refrigerated storage logistics companies in North America with 2.5 million cubic square feet of warehouse space across three facilities.
The company ranks No. 26 on TT’s list of the largest dry storage warehousing companies in North America, with 10.1 million cubic square feet of space across 45 warehouses.
D+S and ILS are headquartered in Wooster, Ohio, with 19 locations in Wooster, Orville, Shelby, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio.
“Adding the high-quality D+S Distribution companies and services to our existing network will improve the service levels and flexibility to TDI and D+S’ current customers,” said TDI CEO Doug Sibila.

The companies being acquired have close to 200 employees and operate around 100 trucks, a TDI spokeswoman added.
D+S and ILS were both owned by Jon Ansel, who plans to retire.
“Having known the PSI and TDI companies, [Sibila] and his management staff for many years, I can see the opportunities and growth they can provide,” said Ansel.
“Their values and expectations for service and people are second to none and are totally in line with mine. I am thankful for the journey and wish all continued success,” he added.
Canton, Ohio-based TDI expects the acquisition to diversify and expand the services it offers. The combined TDI and PSI businesses already operated more than 10 million square feet of contract and public warehouse space across 50 facilities in eight states — Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

TDI has 20 Food and Drug Administration registered warehouses. The facilities offer temperature-controlled storage, refrigerated/cooler, freezer, and dry & bulk storage.
The latest deal is TDI’s second in under 12 months. In July 2023, it acquired the assets of Presidential Express Trucking Inc. and Presidential Express Warehousing & Distribution Inc., which are based in Bayonne, N.J. The company said the deal would also diversify its product suite.
“Adding New York and New Jersey port access and related services to our existing network will improve the service levels and flexibility to PSI and Presidential Express’s current customers,” Sibila said at the time.
