Affinity Truck Center achieved certified electric vehicle dealer status at its Fresno, Calif., dealership from both Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America, each a brand of Volvo Group.

The designation allows Affinity Truck Center to support the Mack LR Electric refuse vehicle and the Volvo VNR Electric model — aimed at local and regional distribution, pickup and delivery, and food and beverage distribution routes.

To achieve EV certification, dealers are required to meet numerous safety, charging, infrastructure, tooling and training requirements. Updates to the facility also need to be made.

The Fresno dealership employs 95 people and has 27 technicians, 11 of which are master technicians. Three technicians are EV-certified to work on electric vehicles. The 60,450 square-foot dealership offers $2 million in parts inventory, according to Mack. The dealership also began installation of heavy-duty-capable charging infrastructure to enable customers to charge at the dealership, VTNA noted.

The family-owned company also operates a dealership in Bakersfield, Calif. This location is in the process of a full remodel and becoming EV-certified, it noted. — Transport Topics
