ATA: Consensus Lacking on Intermodal Chassis

o consensus has been reached on how to ensure that equipment such as intermodal chassis are properly maintained, despite statements by some members of an intermodal industry working group, American Trucking Associations said last week.

ATA President Bill Graves wrote to Joanne Casey, president of the Intermodal Association of North America, to dispute statements that a consensus had been reached on some roadability issues.

Graves said, “ATA understands that some progress has been made within your organization, but we also know that no agreement or consensus has been reached. In fact, a written document describing the progress has not yet been developed.”

The earlier Transport Topics story quoted working group members as saying the group had agreed on a plan for the systematic repair and maintenance of equipment.
