ATA’s Abbott Named to FMCSA Safety Panel
Rob Abbott, American Trucking Associations’ vice president of safety policy, has been named to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s motor carrier safety advisory committee, FMCSA said Friday.
“I’m looking forward to helping craft [FMCSA’s] future direction on safety issues,” Abbott said in a statement released by ATA.
Dave Osiecki, ATA’s senior vice president of policy and regulatory affairs, served on the committee for the past five years.
“Throughout his career, Rob has been a strong advocate for the trucking industry and has worked tirelessly to improve the industry’s safety record,” Osiecki said.
Abbott returned to ATA after serving as vice president of safety and compliance for TransForce Inc. Prior to that he was ATA’s director of safety policy in the 1990s.
The other member of the panel are:
• Paul Claunch, Major, Arkansas Highway Police, Little Rock;
• Henry Jasny, Vice President and Senior Counsel, Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety, Washington;
• Janice Mulanix, Assistant Chief, California Highway Patrol, Sacramento; and
• Calvin Studivant, motorcoach driver, Community Coach, Inc., Paramus, N.J.
