Bendix 2016 Brake Training School Travels to 17 Locations
Component suppliers Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems and Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake, a joint venture with Dana Commercial Vehicle Products, said they will offer 17 in-person brake training school sessions from spring through fall 2016 at various locations around the country.
The series begins March 22, in Owosso, Michigan, and then covers 14 states before concluding in late October, according to Bendix.
The classroom lectures address foundation brake and air brake system components, including air compressors, valves, slack adjusters, brake chambers, shoes and drums, Elyria, Ohio-based Bendix said, adding each session lasts three days and costs $300 per person.
The instructors have more than 175 collective years of comprehensive, practical commercial vehicle service and troubleshooting experience, the company said.
“Up-to-date operational and service knowledge is a vital part of improving fleet and highway safety, and it’s crucial that both new and experienced technicians alike have opportunities to study at the leading edge of today’s ever-evolving technologies,” Lance Hansen, a Bendix regional vice president, said in a news release.
In addition, sessions provide training on safety solutions such as air disc brakes, antilock braking systems, tire pressure monitoring systems, stability technologies and collision mitigation technology.
Bendix experts also will discuss the commercial vehicle regulatory landscape, including federal Reduced Stopping Distance regulations, the company said.
Bendix said it has provided training programs for more than 50 years that now include online courses.
It said its online brake school, since its launch in March 2013, has registered more than 35,000 users from more than two dozen countries. Bendix said it added over 25 new courses to the site, www.brake-school.com, in 2015, with more material planned for regular release.
Class size for the in-person sessions is limited, and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis, Bendix said. Registration can be done by phone at (800) AIR-BRAKE, option 3. Or online at the services and support section at www.bendix.com.
