BestDrive, a tire distributor and retreader owned by Continental Tire, announced the acquisition of Hill Tire Co. to expand its presence in Southeast markets.

The acquisition, whose terms weren’t disclosed, adds five sales locations and capacity to retread approximately 100,000 tires annually, said the statement from Continental Tire The Americas, based in Fort Mill, South Carolina. The Hill Brothers name will continue to be used in the area due to its brand recognition.

BestDrive already has locations in key trucking markets such as Detroit, Memphis, Tennessee, and Phoenix, catering to the retread sector. Hill Brothers, based in the Atlanta area, is the first acquisition.

“Our goal at BestDrive is to be the leading commercial tire and service provider delivering the lowest overall driving cost for our customers,” said Clif Armstrong, managing director of BestDrive. “The addition of Hill Tire helps BestDrive work toward this goal.”

Hill Tire was founded in 1976.

“We are very proud of what we have started and built at Hill Tire, and my sons, David and Allen Hill, will ensure the tradition of Hill Tire continues as we support the growth of the business for BestDrive moving forward,” founder Fred Hill said in the statement.

BestDrive distributes new tires, retreads, casing management and offers other commercial tire-related services. Its outlets carry multiple truck tire brands.

Continental AG’s Tire Division maintains 24 production and development locations worldwide, generating sales of more than $10 billion annually.
