Bestpass Inc. has saved trucking companies more than $60 million in tolls through its universal transponder that covers bridges and roads in most of the United States, the company announced Nov. 1.

The Albany, New York-based company pools together all the owner-operators and commercial fleets into one mega-account. Bestpass automatically pays the toll operator, then sends a monthly bill to the client with an added fee. In exchange, it receives huge discounts from the toll operators and passes those deals on to the trucking companies.

Bestpass also offers a transponder that covers all the major tolling systems across the United States, except for some smaller coastal locations, rather than different devices for each state.

“The new milestone is a testament to the value we provide our customers day in and day out,” said John Andrews, CEO of Bestpass. “We are immensely proud of our role as the toll expert and an invaluable partner with drivers on the road and fleets in the back office.”

Bestpass has 3,665 active accounts and more than 249,100 active transponders, and processes an average of just over $1.2 million in tolls every day, the company told Transport Topics.

Help Inc., a Phoenix-based public-private partnership, offers a similar product called PrePass Plus. However, unlike Bestpass, it’s an add-on feature to the main product, a transponder to bypass weigh stations.
