Burlington Buys Truckload Unit In Peoria, Ill.

Burlington Motor Carriers, Daleville, Ind., acquired Jolliff Transportation of Peoria, Ill., and will operate the company as a wholly owned subsidiary.

Owner Ken Jolliff said he plans to retire after turning over day-to-day management of the company to Garry Snook, who was the operations manager.

The acquisition adds new customers and increases freight density in the Midwest, according to Thomas F. Grojean, chief executive officer of BMC.

Jolliff operates 100 tractors and about 300 mostly dry van trailers and provides regional and long-haul truckload service.
