CARB May Seek Clean Air Act Waiver to Make Fleets Buy Cleaner Engines

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>The California Air Resources Board may seek a waiver from federal Clean Air Act rules in order to allow a Southern California air-quality agency to require public fleets to buy cleaner-running engines, industry officials said.

Glen Kedzie, environmental counsel for American Trucking Associations, said the trucking federation planned to file comments critical of the waiver request.

“It has the potential to set a dangerous precedent that would spread across the country, setting de facto national standards,” Kedzie said.
